In Canada, if you aren't working who pays for healthcare?

People without incomes to pay for health care are generally covered by the payments of those that work and are covered. This the same in either Canada or the U.S. but you personally do not pay directly for any one unemployed person. In the U.S. employees and employers pay Medicare and worker's compensation taxes. This is much like a savings account that is held for certain purposes. When and if you need it, it is paid out of what you have out into it. When, and if that amount is exceeded, it is paid for by others' payments.
