Is there such thing as a wireless audio connector?

Is there such a thing that works like bluetooth but for audio...like you would plus a little thing into the headphone jack on an iPod and another little thing into an audio plug on a stereo system and have your music play on the stereo without being connected with a cord? I know they have little radio transmitters, but im talking about something that could work like a bluetooth or something....
